LRC Fant'sy Frock in the Works

I got to painting my custom dolls when I realized I didn't have all the colors I needed. Apparently I thought I could paint the brows and lashes with flesh colors too! So after playing around with some blush and lip color, I set the heads aside and I ordered some more paints in the right colors.

They won't be here for a week maybe, so in the meantime, I started working on a new pattern, a fantasy-type frock. It will be perfect for a witch dress, and just in time for Halloween! Read more about LRC Fant'sy Frock in the Works

Cloth Body Progress - Dying to Match

Dye results: I had to mix three dyes to get the right shade of cloth to match two colors of vinyl. It's a crazy guessing game!

But I got better as I went along. I did the lighter color first--not too bad. But I got a bit closer to the vinyl color on the second. In fact I'd say it's a nearly perfect match! They look great, pretty close, and I learned a bit about dying cloth. Read more about Cloth Body Progress - Dying to Match

Tipi's Eyes

Don't you just love Hearts for Hearts Girls dolls? They're so pretty, but what's with that purple eye disease some of them get?

Coming to Life

So yeah! I'm pretty happy with my progress on the custom cloth body I've been working on. I have the arms and legs attached now and even inserted the armature to fully test it out.

Cloth Body Progress - Arms Test

I'm am officially up to my neck in this project. Well, up to the doll's neck I guess. I'm working on the shoulders and arms. ;)

So far I've managed to cobble together a set of working upper arms that don't look too bad actually, and integrate fairly well considering the limits of 3/4 vinyl limbs. Read more about Cloth Body Progress - Arms Test

Crafting a Perfect Body

They say that with a bit of time and dedication you can craft yourself a perfect body. And so it goes for dolls too!

I say this as I'm closing out a very long day of working and reworking my custom doll cloth body pattern. I've been at it for days in fact, but I think I finally got some pattern pieces that will work. Read more about Crafting a Perfect Body
