Girls of the World
I have a new project in the works!
Girls of the World was a limited edition collection from several years back by Gotz/Pottery Barn Kids. There were four dolls in the original collection: Carmen from Mexico, Prita from India, Zola from Kenya, and Mei from China. They were dressed in traditional clothing from their respective countries and even included an animal friend.
They might be hard to find today if one had the notion to try, but when I got mine, I did it with the intention of coming up with my own version of their traditional clothing.
I'll be honest, I didn't even know much about traditional clothing at the time, but I thought it would be fun to learn. Since then, I had a go at it with my 18" My Twinn Asian doll project where I made a hanfu dress for Cai and embellished the lehenga (flared skirt) and dupatta/chunni (veil) for Kim's Indian theme, so I got a little more familiar, which was helpful for dressing Prita and Mei. Meanwhile putting together a traditional Mexican folklore outfit for Carmen and something Kenyan themed for Zola was a whole new adventure.

I'm currently in the process of finishing up and will be posting an update for these cute dolls and their new wardrobe in the coming days.
