More Project Updates: Style Dreamers
I'm still going on project updates, my latest being my 14" Style Girls/ Style Dreamers update UPDATE UPDATE.
The original "update" was here: 14" Style Girls Makeover and then updated again here: Style Girls Get Style and then continued again here: Back with Style
Piper and Quinn had been the first to get makeovers and new fashions in 2019.
So last December I gave my four remaining Style Girls/ Style Dreamers, Skylar, Charlie, Maise, and Melanie, the makeovers that were due to them. Then I had to leave it there for a while as I had other doll and non-doll related projects ahead in line. Anyway I finally got back to them.
Designing and stitching together new fashions (x4) was really the biggest part of the doll re-do, but I had some good ideas from that last December update and was finally able to realize them.
This was Skylar the last time we saw her, updated from her original look. Love her new hazel-green eyes and makeover so much, but she needed that new fashion statement too.
I actually chose to make something simple for her because I thought her face was the star and didn't want to overshadow it.
I stitched together a wide-neck fleece shirt and gave her matching pink drop earrings. I also dressed her in jeans and pink tennis shoes, and pulled it together with a simple black belt. I love the classic simplicity. It works.
Charlie was always my favorite 14" Style Girl, probably because for a long time she was hard to find and I had gone through a lot to get her. Later on, New Adventures offered more Charlie-like dolls, but at the time, she was rare. Here she is last December with her updated facepaint and hazel-green eyes, updated from her original look.
Like with both Piper and Quinn, I gave Charlie a schoolgirl-inspired look in warm green, red, and gold tones to blend with her gorgeous tan skin. The outfit I created is a little edgier than a typical schoolgirl, with a corset-like vest, pleated mini skirt, and white thigh-high stockings that's meant to really pop. She also has drop earrings and a beaded bracelet in matching colors to her outfit too.
Next was Melanie. She was originally Piper's twin, but when I made her over with pale green eyes and sunkissed cheeks, I gave her a different vibe than Piper's freckled face.
Even so, I still wanted her more different; cooler, a little edgier. So I dressed her in black "leather" low-waisted bell bottoms and a crop shirt and jacket. I also actually removed her bangs/ fringe and rerooted some platinum highlights to frame her face to more of a street vibe! I'm actually working on a major hair re-rooting project for a k-pop themed doll project, so I was able to put my new skill to use for this project. :)
Then I made Melanie this long, heart pendant to emphasize the crop top, and added a gold belt and gray boots for contrast. Now she and Piper are like night and day!
Finally, Maisie who was once Quinn's twin, got violet-blue eyes and softer face paint than Quinn. Her eyes can look different shades of blue depending on the light, but they actually have a violet tint to them.
I also gave her a different style from the other Style Girls, who are rocking modern fashions you might see on any campus. Instead Maisie got a 70's inspired western look, a bit cowboy with a hint of victorian steampunk. She got it all in one look. Call me crazy because I love it. Gold drop earrings complete it.
Here are all six Style Girls/ Style Dreamers in their new faces and fashions. A new vibe from their original look I think.
Lol every squad has that one friend. . .
So we can finally say the Style Dreamers re-do project has come to a close while it's been a fun and learning experience for me. I hope these little cuties are able to find new homes and New Adventures (pun intended) in the future, as they are going up for sale as I speak. I hope everyone enjoyed this long project as much as I did. <3
