18" My Triplettts Finally Get That Makeover

When I photographed 18" My Twinn dolls Danielle, Ariel, and Wendi a few years ago for a makeover, I didn't realize it would take till now to get it done. But the extra time worked out ok because it gave me a chance to develop my skills in restoring and repainting to get more of the result I wanted.

This 18" Ariel was my first ever Twinn. At the time I unboxed her, I thought she was the prettiest doll I ever saw.

Unfortunately, time was not kind to her beautiful hazel-green eyes which faded and turned cloudy. This was what first gave me the idea to try a My Twinn eye swap. I had done a few capsule eye swaps with AG dolls, but never any inset eye swaps. If anyone has ever done capsule eye swaps, you know they can be challenging. So it was a big relief when swapping out Ariel's faded inset eyes turned out to be easy in comparison.

I decided on these light green eyes that seemed to suit her. I wanted to reset the wig to a side part so I temporarily removed it. I also wanted to redo her eyebrows and lips, so I removed her factory paint.

I hadn't really done any doll makeovers at that time, so I was still learning. The end result was not too bad for a newbie, kinda sorta.

Then she sat on the shelf while I tried to decide if I liked her new paint or not. Meanwhile her new green eyes turned pink. :l

Fast forward several years again to the modern day where it was time to replace her eyes one more time to the same light green. Apprarently I really like this color on her. . .

I removed the face paint I had done years before because I thought I could do better. I thought her eyebrows had always had a perpetually surprised look that I didn't want, and her lips were a little too bright. I wanted a more natural look.

Here she is with her new brows, blush, and more natural lip color. Her new brows look less surprised hopefully. I think this the look I envisioned when I originally wanted to make her over, but probably didn't have the skill to do at the time.

Her pale eyes really stand out with the darker brows. It gives her a very unique look.

I dont remember which Twinn I got after 18" Ariel but I know I picked up a number of them during My Twinn's closeout sale. Most of them I when my doll collection started getting out of control. But I kept a few of my faves like this cute ginger-blonde Danielle.

Danielle's eyes were originally the same color as Ariel's factory color, kind of hazel-green, but they also faded and turned cloudy within a short time. So sometime later, I replaced them with light green eyes too, similar to those I had given to Ariel. I must have had a big collection of light green eyes in My Twinn size or something??

Anyway her eyes were green at that time but I didn't care for the color on her, so when I recently updated Danielle, I used these grey eyes instead.

I also removed her factory paint, and gave her new eyebrows, blush, and lip color.

These are actually the first set of eyebrows I painted. I liked them ok but maybe wanted them to be more subtle.

So I redid them to this and then I completed her look with lots of cute freckles. She's perfect now!

Lastly, another of my absolute favorite 18" Twinns is Wendi. I orginally wanted her to be a brunette to bring out her striking blue eyes. But in the end I decided to stay with the red hair since the wig was still in decent condition and I wasn't in the mood to mangle it.

Also, her intense blue eyes had dimmed over the years and the shade was a looking a little ghostly. So she needed her eyes replaced too.

I gave her this pair of hazel-gray eyes that seemed to have been made for her.

At first I was going to keep her orginal brows; I had always liked their shape.

But I changed my mind at the last minute and painted on new ones to match her hair. She then got new new blush and lip color, and naturally, freckles. She might be my favorite. . .

Finally, each of them got some finshing touches with new eyelashes, sealer, and a little lip shine. I think they are all so lovely.

Here they are with their wardrobe update wearing cute Sophia fashions.

They've had a long journey to here with a few twists and turns but they are finally done, which means they'll probably be finding new homes where they can start a new adventure soon.

I'll be reposting their makeover to my doll rescue gallery shortly, as well as talking about my bigger Twinn project, and by that I mean both bigger Twinn and bigger project, soon.
