Back with Style

The first thing I needed to do for the makeover was to replace all of their eyes. I was so happy with the eye replacement results on Piper and Quinn, I knew I wanted the same for their SG friends.
And that's that! What do you think?
Like the title says.
So I'm back after a long time, and I'm back with Style! Style Girls actually. I'm going to hold to the tradition of finishing out the new year with a New Adventures 14" Style Girls post.
But realistically, it will probably be my last Style Girls new year. I'm giving these a makeover and then probably sending them off to new adventures, no pun intended, and I'm not sure if they are still being sold in stores. Therefore, this will likely be the last SG project I'll do.
But I've had a fun two or three years with these adorable discount Wellie Wisher-type dolls, and now it's time to move on.
Quinn, Melody, Maisie, Skylar, Charlie, and Piper
In my last 14" Style Girls post, I did a makeover for Piper and Quinn. Today I'm doing my four remaining SGs: Melody, Maise, Skylar--and my personal favorite, Charlie.
Melody, Maisie, Charlie, and Skylar
Some of you may remember my epic quest of a few years ago to find Charlie. That moment of victory lives on in my head rent-free, so Charlie remains supreme for me LOL.
The first thing I needed to do for the makeover was to replace all of their eyes. I was so happy with the eye replacement results on Piper and Quinn, I knew I wanted the same for their SG friends.

Time to get to work.
Skylar, Charlie, Maisie, and Melody in their original factory eyes
For Skylar and Charlie, I wanted hazel-green eyes; there was no question. For Maisie I wanted a deeper, violet-blue eye color, to make her different from her made-over twin Piper. And for Melody, I wanted a pale green, again to make her a little different from her twin Piper.
Out with the old and in with the new. . .
Now for the "fun" part: Just like for Piper and Quinn, I removed most of the factory face paint, but left the factory-painted eye lashes.
This is never my favorite part of doing doll makeovers TBH. The eyebrows came off easily enough, but the lip paint was so thick, it got messy getting it all off. I'll spare you the photographic imagery. Anyway, I'm always very happy when I'm finally down to the bare vinyl.
Because Melody's bangs were blocking part of her face, and because Skylar's thick hair could get in the way too, I gave these two a very high-end, very chic tube sock head covering before starting on the new face paint.
Melody and Skylar are ready for their makeover
I started with the face blush around the cheeks, etc., then I did the lips.
Last time I started with the brows, so this time their faces look a little blank without them! But at least the new cheek and lip color is nice.
Also this time I wanted the makeup to look a little more subtle, so I kept the lips and cheeks just barely blushing pink.
Finally the eyebrows! This part really brings the dolls back to life and can give them nice, subtle expressions.
I also darkened the lash and eyelids a bit--not too much. Just enough to look a bit dressy.
Finally I gave a little shine to their lips.
And that's that! What do you think?
So I'm not quite done just yet. I also plan on making custom outfits, just like I did for Piper and Quinn. But in the mean time, I gave them some of their original clothes back (and borrowed from my other 14" dolls).
Maybe I'll curl their hair, some of them, to give their new look a little something extra?
I'm in love with the (almost) finished product. Style Girls/ Style Dreamers dolls are so cute; they really pop with a little makeover.
So there it is. I have continued with my year-end tradition at LRC (even if it's late). Next time I'll update on Skylar's, Maisie's, Melody's, and Charlie's new custom wardrobe.
I have a number of other doll posts in mind too. Look for some brand new doll discussions in the coming days.
And a happy new year to all!
